Ant Control questions
Answers to common questions we hear from homeowners, tenants and businesses.
Why do ants keep coming back?
Recurring activity can continue when the colony, food, moisture or entry points remain active. Treating only the ants that are visible may not address the source.
How can I tell what type of ant I have?
Size, colour, nesting material, trail behaviour and where the ants are found can help with identification. A technician can inspect the activity before choosing a control approach.
Can a clean home still have ants?
Yes. Ants can enter well-maintained properties while searching for water, food or suitable nesting areas. Moisture and structural entry points can be just as important as sanitation.
Do carpenter ants always mean there is damaged wood?
Not necessarily. Carpenter ants excavate galleries in wood but do not eat it. Activity can be associated with damp or softened wood, so the surrounding conditions should also be inspected.
Will one ant treatment solve the problem?
It depends on the species, colony location, building conditions and extent of activity. Some situations need monitoring, follow-up or exterior prevention after the initial service.
Should I seal ant entry points before treatment?
Some gaps can be sealed, but it is often better to identify the active routes and nesting areas first so sealing does not simply redirect activity to another opening.
