Fly Control questions
Answers to common questions we hear from homeowners, tenants and businesses.
Why do flies keep returning?
Persistent activity usually means a breeding, food or entry source is still available. Adult fly control alone will not solve an active source.
Can flies breed in drains?
Some small fly species can develop in organic buildup associated with drains or other moist areas. Correct identification helps determine whether the drain is actually the source.
Why are there many flies around one window?
Light can attract adult flies toward windows, but the original source may be elsewhere in the building. The species and surrounding conditions should be inspected.
Are fly lights enough for a commercial fly problem?
Fly lights can be useful for monitoring and capturing certain adult flies, but they do not replace sanitation, exclusion or removal of a breeding source.
What causes recurring flies in restaurants or food areas?
Waste, food residue, spills, drains, damaged screens, open doors and hidden organic material can all contribute. A control plan should address the source as well as adult activity.
Can fly problems be seasonal?
Yes. Outdoor populations, weather, doors and windows, nearby waste and building conditions can all change with the season and affect indoor fly pressure.
