What carpenter bees look like
Carpenter bees are large bees that may resemble bumble bees, but many have a shiny, relatively hairless abdomen. Males may hover defensively but cannot sting.
Where activity develops
Females excavate round tunnels in suitable bare or weathered wood, including fascia, beams, railings and outbuildings. Repeated nesting can enlarge existing damage.
